City Directories sometimes contained information about recent deaths. The 1937 Polk's Great Falls City Directory contained information about over 400 deaths in the recent past; sometimes the only mention was that a woman was now a widow -- the opposite was never mentioned. Children who had died were not listed in this particular City Directory -- thus, the list cannot be used as a local Death Index substitute. However, the Directory does contain information about deaths that might not be shown elsewhere. Use the Information as you would any other secondary source -- search for original documents to confirm the information found.
