CHASE, John B. and Maude M.- -
John did some teaching; served on boards of Lake Creek (Iron Cr.) and Fall Creek schools; was member of first board; Milnor Lake Cemetery; was instrumental in surveying wagon road, Chase Cutoff. Maud taught at Yaak, Fall Creek, and second location of Lake Creek schools. John's sister Ethel also taught at last-named.
COFFMAN, Bert- -
Came with brothers Ben and Jack to Troy in 1907, had blacksmith shop and livery stable, later the town's first garage and first Model-T Ford. Was Troy's first fire chief. Married Nora Cripe in 1913.
COX, Leslie- -
Ran a dairy farm in the Iron Creek valley
DOONAN, W.F. ("Duffy")- -
Railroad engineer. Took over Windsor Hotel on Sept. 1, 1909, then leased Monio Hotel as annex to the Windsor. Later ran a drugstore and a Bull Lake summer resort. Known as a jovial, witty personality.
FRENCH, Fred C. and Hattie- -
Fred came in 1900 from Iowa; worked in Troy railroad shops. Settled in Iron Creek valley on Mountain Cove ranch. Wife Hattie came wih two children in 1901; as a close neighbor, she helped look after the four motherless Baggs girls; in the community was called on as midwife. Celebrated 60th wedding anniversary 1950.
HEAD, Forrest, D.- -
Taught at Troy's District 23 school and at Fall Creek school which opened 1903, Later became Lincoln County's first Superintendent of Schools (1910)
HAGARTY, Nellie- -
Followed D.T. Wood as postmaster in 1908 (succeeded in that post by Hallie Savage). Sister of Mrs. Jos. Bartlett.. Nephew Jim Hagerty was personal assistant to Pres. Eisenhower. Hegerty = Nellie's signature, '13 postal doc.
HURD, Charles- -
Bought homestead rights on Lake Creek 1898. Married in Iowa 1899; came with first child to Troy area where 5 other children were born. Wife Anna (Schultz). Hurd served as midwife for Cummings, Thornton and other families. They lived in log cabin 1902-1917.
PATTIE, James Eugene ( "Gene")- -
Rancher in valley below Copper Mtn. and Grouse Mtn. Born in Spokane 1898, son of the William Patties, grandson of Levi Rouse, came with parents to Iron Creek valley in 1904 and grew up on parents' homestead; married Anna Davis. Died 1975.
PATTIE, William, and Clara (Rouse) Pattie- -
Came from Spokane to Iron Creek valley to homestead 1904-1908. William, born Ontario, Canada, of Scottish parents, worked as mail clerk on Great Northern Railroad between Spokane and Havre. Homestead went to sons, grandsons; sold 1975.
PAYNE, Benjamin- -
Originally from Tenn., in Missouri married Iva Redeye. Moved to Troy's Milnor-Savage Lakes area 1901 with two children (third born here). Iva, eldest child of the John Redeyes, was a trustee and board clerk of Fall Creek school in 1906.
REDEYE, John William- -
Lake Creek rancher, came to Troy 1900 from Polk County, Missouri (previously from Illinois), with wife, Nancy (Thurman) Redeye. Of children Iva, Ernest, Ruth, Cora, Winifred and Earl, the last two were school age. Name was a translation from German Rotauge meaning "red eye" anglicized form being Rothage.
ROUSE, Levi and Jake- -
Brothers arrived 1900, made their home in Iron Creek valley. Levi's sons, John B. (Jack), Isaac (Ike), and Eugene (Jake), brothers of Clara (Rouse) Pattie, also homesteaded in Iron Creek valley, though they were primarily prospectors.
SATHER, Victor A.- -
Came toTroy 1909 as railroad telegrapher; Great Northern agent 1921-1963. First city clerk (1915),first secretary-treasurer of volunteer fire depatment (1914 or '15) clerk of school board (1917-1924). Plotted Troy cemetery; instrumental in securing Troy's park.
SLEE, Richard- -
Arrived 1903. Married Dulcie Wallace, elder daughter of William Wallace, in 1910. Worked for Forest Service.
TALLMADGE, Edwina (widow)- -
Came with two children from Oshkosh, Wisconsin, April 1, 1902, to join older son Roy, already here two years. Filed on Bull Lake homestead 1904. Married Frank Stanley at John Cummings home June 9, 1907, with Justice of the Peace George Davis presiding, and moved to Stanley's Bull Lake homestead, Died 1949 at age 97.
TALLMADGE, Harry- -
Arrived at age 10 with sister Ethel, 8 and mother Edwina in 1902. Attended Fall Creek school as a child. Spent his life in Troy area. Died 1981.
THOMAS, Robert E. and Sarah- -
Originally from Wales, came with first son Arvin to Troy from Butte about 1904, homesteaded on Three Mile Creek, tributary of Callahan Creek. Robert worked at the railroad roundhouse. Daughter Gwen and sons Frank, Bert (Robt.H.), Hayden, and William born 1905-1911.
WALLACE, William- -
Came from Eastern Washington with wife, two sons and year-old daughter 1903 and homesteaded about four miles north of town across Kootenai River.
WEIDNER, George August and Anna Marie- -
Homesteaded on Keeler Creek 1904-1912 with family: Henry, August (who died 1904), Anna Marie, and Edward. Parents returned to Michigan 1912 where George died that year.
WEIDNER, Henry- -
Came to Troy as a young man in 1904 from Michigan. Married Blanche Conklin, teacher in Troy's first school, 1908. First Sylvanite forest ranger. Started grocery business 1915.

HARTWELL, George- -
Gave land for Troy cemetery; was working on a flying machine with overhead blades in the 1930's. Hartwell Addition of West Troy (Valley of the Moon) named for him.
PLUNKETT, John- -
Settler north of Kootenai River already established when Wallace family came in 1903.
SHERLOCK- -
Children were Martin, Nora, and Henry. Their mother was Hannah (Teske) Sherlock.
WALTENBERGER, Fred- -
His ranch north of the Kootenai was purchased by William Wallace who arrived 1903.
