Wash Day with Snow, Arleen and Coreen Vance

Mother and daughter, Arleen, left, and Coreen Vance, collect some snow which fell on 6 June 1950 at their home north of Fort Shaw, Cascade County, Montana.  Their intent was to take advantage of this rare summer-time event to use soft snowmelt water for washing clothes.  The trees in the background had a few leaves but the snow didnšt do any permanent harm as the temperatures were just barely cold enough for the snow to accumulate.
