Caroline was born in the Schleswig-Holstein region of Germany on April 26, 1875. Her parents were Johann and Caroline Stegelmann Storjohann. She had an older brother, John, and a younger brother, Carl -- my grandfather. She immigrated to the U.S. with her parents and brothers in 1882. I know little else about her during this time of her life. At some point she married Edward Drepper. I don't know if she was married at the time of these photos or not. Caroline Storjohann was my grandfather's sister.

I surmise from the first photograph -- the one which depicts a building with the banner "DRESSMAKING" -- that she may have been a school teacher and the children with her were students. The picture is annotated "Fort Benton, Mont". It bears two other notations written in German.
