This is an Assiniboine Indian woman from the Fort Peck Indian Reservation. She wasmy grandmother's nurse when she was a small child. My grandmother, Ellen Ayotte, born1885, was the daughter of Alex Ayotte, Indian Agent on the Reservation from 1887 to about1892. The picture was taken when my grandmother went back to visit about 1900.--PatDarling
