Old Petroleum County School

This Spanish style stucco elementary and high school building was completed in 1921. The 1921-1922 school year
had 95 students enrolled in high school, 45 first grade, 33 second, 26 third, 30 fourth, 33 fifth and 60 sixth through eighth
grade students. The school was in use until 1993 when it was closed because the foundation was found to be unstable.
The old school was torn down in 1997 and a new wing built on the present Winnett School buildings.
