| DIVIDE--Named because it is near the Continental Divide, where waters on the west side end up in the Pacific Ocean and streams on the east side flow toward the Gulf of Mexico. This Union Pacific station at Divide was a distribution and stock shipping point for the Big Hole Valley. The post office opened in 1873. Charles Wunderlich was the postmaster. |
