OLD SOLDIER DIES

    Thomas Farson, aged 70 years, died yesterday morning after a prolonged illness.  He was a member of the Lincoln post of the Grand Army of the Republic.  After the war he traveled over practically the entire United States and was a pioneer in the Alaskan gold fields. As far as known he has no relatives, but some of the Lincoln post have interested themselves in his case and will make some disposition of the body. He was formerly a watchman at the Leonard mine.

THOMAS FARSON, a veteran of the civil war, died this morning, and the body is at Walsh’s undertaking rooms, pending arrangement for the funeral.  The deceased was 70 year of age and a member of Lincoln Post, Grand Army of the Republic.  At the outbreak of the war, Mr. Farson enlisted in company A, 71st New York infantry and served throughout the war with distinction.  Up to the time of his recent illness he was a watchman at the Leonard mine.  Nothing is known here at the present time as to any relatives the deceased may have.

   The funeral of Thomas Farson took place this afternoon at 2 o’clock from Walsh’s undertaking rooms and was under the auspices of the Grand Army, the deceased being a member of Lincoln Post.  Rev. Father Leschner held a short service at the undertaking rooms.

 FUNERAL OF WILLIAM H. FLAGLER 
WAS WEDNESDAY

   The remains of William H Flagler who died in Butte, Montana, January 24th, were brought here Monday for burial. Mr. Flagler was an old and well known veteran of Libertyville, but for the last three years lived with his daughter, Mrs. Thomas Bennett, in Butte.  The daughter accompanied the remains to Area.

   The funeral services were conducted by Rev. T. E. Ream at the Chas Butterfield home Wednesday at 1:30. Interment took place in the Diamond Lake cemetery. G. A. R. services were held last Friday in the Chapel at Butte.

   Mr. Flagler was born in New York Sept. 7, 1936, and at the age of 17 he came to this state where he lived until going to Montana.  He was a member of the 96th Illinois Calvary, Co. G. and served over three years.

   He leaves five children: Lewis B., Mrs. J. B. Morris and Mrs. Thomas Bennett, of Butte, Montana, Leonard and Legrande of Chicago.

AGED WAR VETERAN DIES 
         AT HIS DAUGHTER’S HOME

 WILLIAM FLAGLER WAS OLDEST 
MEMBER OF LINCOLN POST 
OF MINING CITY

    William H. Flagler, 80 years old and the oldest member of Lincoln post, Grand Army of the Republic, of Butte, died yesterday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Thomas Bennetts, 508 West Granite Street.  He had been in Butte for three years, coming to the mining city from Chicago, where he was a member of Thomas post, No. 5.

   Mr. Flagler served through the civil war with the Ninety-second Illinois regiment, enlisting at the age of 25.  He was in many engagements, among them the battles of Resaca, Kenesaw mountain, Peach Tree creek and at Atlanta.  He was wounded at Peach Tree creek and again at Atlanta.

   Mr. Flagler is survived by five children, Louis B. Flagler, Mrs. Thomas Bennetts and Mrs. Joe Morris of Butte and Leonard M. and Legrande Flagler of Chicago.

   Funeral services will be held in Butte by the Grand Army. The body will be taken to Mr. Flagler’s old home, Libertyville Ill., for burial.

CAVALRY VETERAN HEARS 
             THE LAST BUGLE CALL
 

   Thomas S. Flitcraft, a veteran of the civil war, died yesterday at the age of 80 years. He was born in Columbus county, Ohio, Jan. 28, 1832, of German parentage. He served through the war with company M of the Eighth Iowa cavalry. His wife died in Iowa in 1881. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. P. M. Burt and Mrs. M. E. Kilgallan, both of Butte, and Mrs. George Fuzus of Twin Bridges. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at the late residence, 30 East Copper street. Rev. J. E. Noftsinger will officiate. Mr. Flitcraft did not belong to the Grand Army.

The funeral of Thomas S. Flitcraft, who died yesterday at the age of 79 years will take place tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock from the family residence, 30 East Copper street, the Rev. Mr. Noftsinger officiating.  The deceased was a veteran of the civil war and served in the Second Iowa cavalry. The deceased lived in this city for many years and was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic. Mr. Flitcraft is survived by three daughters, Mrs. P. M. Burt and Mrs. M. E. OLD-TIME SAILOR DEAD

   A.C. Fowler, an old-time sailor, who had been in Butte for many years, died yesterday at his home, 10 West Mercury street. He was 72 years old and a native of Maine. The body is at White & Krebs awaiting funeral arrangements.


   Albert C. Fowler, aged 73 years, died yesterday. The remains are at White & Krebs’ undertaking rooms, from where the funeral wil be held Friday afternoon at 3:30 under the auspices of the Grand Army.
