Old State Hospital Records

Old records from the Montana State Hospital at Warm Springs and the Galen State Hospital can be obtained from the Montana Historical Society Archives & Library in Helena. Below is a link to the Montana State Historical Society, and the email address where you can ask about obtaining these records.

You may be required to contact the hospital administration office and ask them to look up the patient's ID number. The historical society uses these ID numbers to file the old records. You will then be required to sign a confidentiality form, agreeing not to disclose relevant details to any other person.
