Charged with stealing coal from a loaded car in the Milwaukee yards, on man and three women were bound over to the district court after a hearing in Judge Wilkinson’s court yesterday. They were surprised by the watchman while in the act of throwing tow tons of coal from the car to the ground. Bonds in the sum of $200 each were fixed. The defendants were James Corelli, Mrs. Perchavena, Mary and Rose Campanello. FINES YOUTH TO SAVE LIFE FROM ACCIDENTS “If you come here again for speeding, I intend to fine you $20 in the belief that I will be aiding in saving your life from an auto accident.” Said Judge Grimes in police court this morning, to Felix Burns, a sandy-haired young fellow who appeared on a charge of breaking the speed limit.. His appearance this morning was the third in as many months, officers said. The penalty imposed on him today was $10. BUTTE WOMAN IMPROVES FROM MAJOR OPERATION Mrs. M. H. Hall, owner of the Acoma hotel, who underwent a serious operation at the Mayo brothers’ hospital in Rochester, Minn., six weeks ago, will arrive home on Friday, according to word received by relatives this morning. She is reported to be greatly improved in health. STUDENTS AT MINING COLLEGE TO ORGANIZE Preliminary steps toward the organization of the student body of the Montana State School of Mines into a student association were taken at a meeting held on the hill yesterday. Among those who spoke in favor of the proposition were President Charles H. Clapp, Prof. W. T. Scott, Frank M. Cliff and Charles McAuliffe. When established the organization will control all student activities, foster college spirit and maintain college traditions. A
constitution committee consisting of Frank Cliff, Lucian Eaves, Charles
Emery, George Moran and Professor Scott was appointed to report at the
next student meeting. |
